Following European Commission's President von der Leyen call for a 'Digital Decade', the Commission proposes the concept of a Digital Compass, evolving around four cardinal points:
Citizens digital skills
Security
Digital transformation for businesses
Digitalization for public services
All by keeping the EU rights at the center of this large scale radical change. Without forgetting that the rights should be at the heart of the EU's human centred way on digital. Expecially to ensure that the same rights that apply offline can be fully exercised online.
The Amber project is deeply aligned with the proposition for a secure transition to digital for privates, services and businesses. The Commission affirms that 10,000 highly secure edge nodes should be deployed in the EU by 2030. Every Amber is an edge node, fully functional in local networks but with the perks of cloud authentication for increased security.
Data security is not a bonus, it is in fact the core of the Amber project, and a human centered option to decentralize the system is the base for a secure digitalization.
Businesses will be able to stay in control of their data systems and internal services, avoiding the risks of a centralized ecosystem. Based on the EU plan, three out of four companies should use cloud computing services, Amber provides the efficiency of the cloud services without needing to store users data on a centralized and more vulnerable cloud service, that often offer limited to no warranty for Data Privacy.
By 2030, all key public services should be available online; all citizens will have access to their e-medical records; and 80% citizens should use an eID solution. With the digitalization of public services and health sector, each persons medical records will have to be stored securely, and the citizen will have full control over it.
Amber provides a solution to keep the medical data secure and easily accessible to the patient, that uses the most advanced data standards, finally enabling every Amber to act as an eID solution in the field of medical digitalized technology.
