Router mode or Bridge mode?

Avatar
Jan van Amber

Amber OS can get an IP from an DHCP server if the router is in DHCP mode or Bridge mode. What’s the different between these modes?

In the DHCP mode, the Amber Router assigns the IPs, in the Bridge Mode the extern router (from provider) assigns the IPs.

When a modem/router is in bridge mode, it completely disables the entire routing part and all traffic is instantly forwarded to the first port of the device. The other ports become disabled. So bridge mode is far more than just disabling DHCP.
